What's nice about this restaurant is that you can sit "outside" in the undercover courtyard, feeling like you're on holiday but still protected from the elements. The service wasn't the quickest I have ever experienced, but it was a very busy Friday night, so I guess this is to be a bit expected.
The menu was inviting - there were several options I was torn between:
South-coast crab on toast, £7, sounded absolutely divine, especially with smashed avocado and apple matchsticks.
South-coast fish in a bag, £13.50, steamed fish of the day with mussels, potatoes, capers, tomatoes, fennel, chilli and garlic does sound absolutely fantastically fresh.
Wild mushroom, spinach and truffle tagliatelle, £10.50, again, scrummy sounding.
However, I went for none of the above dishes, as yummy as they sounded. Earlier in the week I'd thought about making kebabs for dinner, but didn't have any skewers. My eye flicked down the menu then I saw this:
Twisted souvlaki (chunky vegetable), £10.50, with smashed aubergine and feta salad, tzatziki, smoked hummus and warm flatbread.
My oh my, I was excited about this. And my excitement only escalated once the dish arrived.
A perfect atmosphere for a perfect light supper. However, they bloody added service charge! Drives me nuts!! For the grand sum of £12, I did have a fantastic meal in lovely surroundings with fabulous company though, so can't complain. And finally got to satisfy my kebab cravings.
