Then, I stumbled across BarBurrito, and it was the saviour to my quandry.
I love Mexican food, a lot. And what's really nice is that I hardly ever make it for myself, so it always remains a bit of a novelty and still really exciting. Which is lush. BarBurrito literally does what it says on the tin. You walk up to the bar, and order a burrito. Simple. Ahh, just kidding there's a bit more to it than that. I went for the 'burrito bowl' option (you can also choose a classic burrito, tacos and nachos too), vegetarian obvs, for the grand sum of £5.50. This is simply, a burrito without the wrap. The best thing about BarBurrito as a vegetarian is that you get a choice. I loveeeee choice. I had flash fried veg, black beans, the 'ranchera' medium salsa and sour cream - all on top of brown rice. You can also add cheese, and also guacamole for an extra 75 pence. Come at me choice. And it is super speedy service, which when you're HANGRY (hungry/angry) is always the ultimate attribute to any food joint.
Turns out, this burrito bowl was just what I fancied. It was the right level of spice, the salsa and sour cream meant it was seriously fresh and although in theory it should be really heavy, it wasn't. Okay, it wasn't the cheapest lunch option. I could have bought a sarnie from Sainsbury's. And it was a whole pound more than the vegetarian gyozo pot in Eat. But I really don't think anything could compare to this speedy, delicious, taste of Mexico.
Next time you're about for lunch in Paddington Station, which I admit isn't really an everyday occurence, grab something delish from BarBurrito.
