However, despite not having any visual stimulation for you, I still feel I need to write something about this beatnik little eatery in Brockley, because it is such great grub for such a great price.
The first time I visited this was in search for a cheapy lunch with my sister, and as it was a warm day, we could sit out in the quaint little garden on multi-coloured metal seats, all with the vibe of up cycling. Lovely. I bamboozled the poor waiter who was doing the order from memory because I changed my mind as to what I was having about a hundred times. Finally settling on a red pesto and tuna baguette I was incredibly happy with my choice - delicious wholemeal baguette loaded with a pesto-y and tuna-y mix, with roasted cherry tomatoes and a side salad. Scrumptious. And especially great value for about £4.
My second visit to the Brockley Mess was less sophisticated, as it was an extremely hungover brunch with my housemates. You know what really hit the spot? Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on toast with a diet coke. Perfect hangover alleviation, and for about £7, not pricey either. Around the table were similar delicious looking hangover cures, from full English breakfasts to french toast with bacon. The food of the gods when you feel like death.
I am so upset that I only discovered this cool little art gallery come cafe about two weeks before I moved from Brockley to Brixton, otherwise I'm sure I would have become a regular.
