And what's more is that it was totally delicious and, of course, vegetarian. I love nothing more than a heart soup. The grannary bread served with was super tasty too, seeded, and just a bloody great bit of bread. Perfect for dunking and mopping up the last bits of soup. They have a range of soups of the day and for a quick lunch, it is just absolutely perfect! I definitely recommend!
I know I have previously ranted and raved about the fantastic selection of herbal teas at the Fleet Street Press but I couldn't possibly not write a little entry about how scrummy their food was too - and best of all super cheap! I took my mum here for lunch last time she was in London and we both opted for the soup of the day - chunky vegetable. The best thing is that it is a mere £2.70, or £3 with bread. SO CHEAP.

As coffee shops go, Fleet Street Press, a little independent coffee shop on, surprisingly, Fleet Street, is a favourite of mine. I swear that myself and pretty much everyone at King’s College London university funds their business, as it is opposite our library.
More importantly, they do amazing hot drinks, and a fantastic soup deal for lunch. They make strong, aromatic, flavourful coffee (although I like my coffee scalding hot and this is merely a drinkable temperature, which I know is how coffee is meant to be served but still – could be hotter for me). Hot chocolate? Made from real lumps of hot chocolate, stirred into hot milk – also known as the best way ever to make hot chocolate. The ultimate indulgence is their white chocolate hot chocolate. Fantastically sweet, deliciously decadent and you can buy the packages of chocolate counters so that you can replicate this hot chocolate at home. Brill. However, the reason I love Fleet Street Press so much is because I am an avid tea drinker. I will drink pretty much any tea that is plonked down in front of me, except for Redbush. And I am more than happy to give anything a go once. The countertop at Fleet Street Press is literally covered with jars FULL of different flavoured teas. I normally stick to my guns and go for a spearmint, or lemongrass and ginger. But when I popped in this weekend for a coffee date with a friend, I fancied mixing it up a bit. Top tip: If you have no clue what to go for, always ask for staff recommendation! I asked the girl behind the counter what she would recommend from the herbal tea selection. I’d already had my eye on a few of the fruity, berry orientated teas, including the one she pulled out: Pina Colada. She offered me a whiff from the jar and I was sold. When the teapot came over, I gave the loose leaf tea a quick smoosh and poured. Vibrant red in colour, smelling of coconut and tasting, well, of pina colada. A pina colada that has much more of an intense berry hit than that of cream and booze but still summery and coconutty. Summer in a teapot if you will. Deeeeeeelish. And surprising refreshing, considering I was drinking a hot drink on a hot summery day. If you want to tantalise your tastebuds and give a plethora of teas your utmost attention, visit the Fleet Street Press – they have enough teas to make your decision immensely tricky but always leave you with an option to enhance your day and put a smile on your face. |
