I started off with a classic margarita cocktail whilst waiting for the third member of our party. Wow, do the margaritas pack a punch! Tequila and bitter lime... super delicious, and zesty. Brill. There is also a buzzing vibe in the bar downstairs, where you can sip your drink whilst waiting for a table and/or your complete party.
Once settled with all members of the gang and on a table, it is time to pick some food. As I went a couple of days before payday, and during peak Christmas shopping time - it is safe to say I was pretty skint. But it's okay to poor at Wahaca! I went for the winter vegetable burrito (£6.85) and you get serious bang for your buck. A delicious burrito with seasonal veg, chillies, feta and avocado salsa - served with tortilla chips and salsa. I mean, yum. All the great Mexican flavours on a plate, for a really decent price. And I got full! Not like I was hankering after more, which can happen with the sharing plates.
The service in this Wahaca is great - I have been twice before - once in a real rush before a theatre performance. The guy was super accommodating getting our food to the table and our bill in time to make our performance. This time I went to Wahaca, we had the same waiter - when I said to him thank you so much for the last time you served us, we made it on time to our play - he remembered me and was so chuffed!
If you're after good, fairly inexpensive Mexican food, pop on down to your nearest Wahaca, and try to sample the whole menu - you won't be disappointed, I promise.
